Building Content and Community

Does it quack like a blog?

Navy Road uses the open-source WordPress platform for content management. WordPress was originally developed for blogging; we apply additional code, design and language to WordPress to give you complete control over what your your customers see. In other words, your site can look and behave:

  • just like a blog,
  • somewhat like a blog,
  • or not like a blog at all.

We definitely recommend enabling the blogging features for all or part of your site. These features increase your chances of getting people to your site and keeping them interested: through audience participation, linking to and from other sites (partners, reviews, etc.), and increased search rankings. Blogging features include:

  • Commenting: site visitors can comment on specific blog or news posts. These comments appear as a “conversation” after the post. You have complete control and approval over individual comments and the overall process.
  • Social bookmarking: site visitors can add you to digg, del.icio.us and other social bookmarking sites, which they can share with others.
